Hawaiian Dart Frog Salt & Pepper
Living in the tropical rainforests of Surinam, in South America, these colorful little frogs grow to 1-1.5 inches in length.
Like all species of the dart frog family, they are diurnal, meaning they are more active during the day than at night, which helps potential prey recognize their bright coloring and move to a less dangerous food source! While they can be found near streams among boulders and brush, they lack toe webbing, making them poor swimmers. As they live in small ranges with isolated populations, this species is highly susceptible to human activities and natural factors such as over collection for the pet trade and drought.
